Project overview

The Garri packaging design for D’PanaAfrik Investments Limited was developed to create a bold, recognizable, and market-ready identity for a familiar Nigerian staple. The design combines strong typography, vibrant green and golden-yellow tones, and clear product imagery to communicate the natural quality and nutritional appeal of the garri at a glance. A prominent GARRI wordmark gives the product immediate shelf presence, while the use of bowls showing the actual product helps customers quickly understand what is inside the package. The packaging system was also designed across multiple sizes, creating a consistent visual identity from 5kg to 50kg. The overall direction balances traditional agricultural cues with a modern commercial presentation, giving the product a recognizable presence while communicating key information such as weight, storage instructions, contact details, and the source of the cassava.

The challenge

The challenge was to create packaging that would make a familiar everyday product feel distinctive, trustworthy, and commercially appealing in a competitive market. Garri is widely recognized, so the design needed to immediately communicate what the product was while giving D’PanaAfrik a visual identity that could stand apart on shelves. The packaging also needed to work across different product sizes, from smaller consumer packs to larger 50kg bags, without losing consistency or impact. Clear product information, storage instructions, contact details, and weight specifications had to be integrated without overwhelming the main visual message. The key challenge was finding the right balance between bold shelf appeal, product clarity, brand recognition, and practical packaging information.

The solution

The solution was to create a bold and cohesive packaging system that makes the Garri instantly recognizable while giving D’PanaAfrik a distinctive presence in the market. The design uses a strong GARRI wordmark as the central visual element, supported by vibrant green and golden-yellow tones that connect naturally with the cassava product and its agricultural origins. Clear product photography and product illustrations were incorporated to give customers an immediate visual understanding of what they are purchasing. Key information such as net weight, product description, contact details, storage instructions, and location was organized into clear sections for easy visibility. The same visual language was then adapted across the 5kg, 10kg, 25kg, and 50kg packages, creating a consistent and scalable system that maintains brand recognition regardless of package size. The result is a packaging identity that combines strong shelf presence, clear communication, and a distinctly local product character.

Proper packaging helps protect the garri from contamination and moisture.

When stored properly in a cool, dry place, the packaging helps maintain product quality.

Clear product information, weight options, and contact details make purchasing easier.
